ABOUT FORUM

The main objective of the Forum on Sustainability in Food Production is to share the latest knowledge on agriculture and livestock farming developed in Brazil, focusing on integrated agricultural production systems, a model endorsed by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Food security while promoting environmental preservation and the social inclusion of those involved in agricultural activities.

The reason we chose the Federal University of Paraná for the event is because the institution has the only research center specializing in integrated systems of agricultural production and livestock in the world located in an environment of environmental preservation (APA - protected by law ) The NITA - Center for Technological Innovation in Agriculture.

NITA takes to the field interesting and solid results based on research developed by postgraduate students (Master’s, Doctorate and Post-Doctorate) and undergraduate programs in agrarian, veterinary, forestry and environmental sciences. The core is a member of an alliance composed of different universities: Ohio State University (USA), Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, University of California and Massey University of New Zealand.

The work carried out in the research area is related to the measurement of greenhouse gas emissions in different production systems, animal behavior in different production systems, soil and water management and other related environmental and productive aspects.

The event is held for two days, it is not the first day lectures are given without audit of Agricultural Sciences, and on the second day there is an opportunity for the participants of the visit event. * O World Cafe Is a seemingly simple participatory process that has a phenomenal ability to work the diversity and complexity in the group, making collective intelligence emerge. It is a process of group dialogue, which can take from a few hours to a few days, in which participants are divided into several tables, and talk about a central question. The process is organized in such a way that people circulate among the various groups and conversations, connecting and pollinating ideas, making visible the intelligence and wisdom of the collective. At the end of the process (or along the same, if necessary) collects collective perceptions and learning. The huge interaction between the participants and the complex and non-linear relationships can bring impressive systemic and emerging results.
